GREENVILLE, KY., Ramonette Colo, 97, formerly of Greenville passed away peacefully at River Glen Assisted Living in St. Charles, IL Wednesday, January 16, 2023. Ramonette was born on September 5, 1925 in Salisbury, MO to Luberta and Raymon Lewis. In August 1947 she was married to Felix Colo in Moberly, MO. They lived in various locations in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana with his job as Superintendent with Peabody Coal Company. She enjoyed being a full-time mother, painting, traveling, and dancing with the Greenville KY Cotillion group. Ramonette supported Felix’s involvement in Scottish Rite as he received his 33rd degree and his participation in Hadi Shrine in Evansville, IN. Her love of family, humor, fun conversations, and being with friends will long be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband Felix, her daughter Susan Anderson, her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Her survivors include daughters Cheryl (Steve) Ledbetter of St. Charles and Patricia (James) Braun of Aurora, son-in-law Mike Anderson of Sullivan, IN., grandchildren Jeff (Sandra) Braun, Chad (Amy) Anderson, Stacy (Garrick) Walton, Julie (Chris) Kirkpatrick, Jennifer (Mike) Manthei, Kelly (Jeff) Odom, Joy (David) Gonzalez, Lauren Ledbetter, and Alison Ledbetter. Also, 14 great-grandchildren and sister Elaine Sanford.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel, St. Charles from 9:30 to 11:00 with a service to follow at 11:00.

GREENVILLE, KY., Brenton Ray Elkins, 33, of Greenville passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville from injuries sustained in an oil field accident. He was born in Owensboro on May 30, 1989 the son of Marvin Ray Elkins and Barbara Gail Chandler. He was of the Baptist faith and had been an oil field worker since he was 16 years old. He had been a farmer all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, his aunt Barbara Ann Elkins, and his grandparents Junior and Joyce Elkins and Murvin Chandler.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Gail Chandler of Greenville, a sister Crystal Elkins of Greenville, his grandmother Anna Jo Chandler of Greenville, a nephew JaKayden Lovan, a niece Ella Lanier, and several cousins.

She was born in Muhlenberg County on December 5, 1948 the daughter of Shelby Lee Jones and Nettie Middleton Jones. She worked for Trane Company in Clarksville, TN for 28 years and she was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to yard sales, and being outside.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John W. Richards, a daughter Penny Ellen McGhee, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

GREENVILLE, KY., James Donald “Jimmy Don” Dickinson, 83, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Greenville on May 3, 1939 the son of James Walter Dickinson and Carrie Artenus “Teenie” Wagoner Dickinson. He retired from Hopkins County Coal Company in 2003 after 37 years and worked for Gary’s Funeral Home since 2000. He was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244, a member of the American Legion #61, and an honorary member of the VFW #5478. He was a member of Greenville First Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel and an avid UK basketball fan. He was known for his story telling and enjoyed breakfast every Sunday morning with his friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeff Dickinson.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Beverly Dickinson of Greenville, a daughter Cammie (Scott) McIntosh of Greenville, a son Jason (Lori) Dickinson of Powderly, 3 grandchildren Presley (Trent Logan) McIntosh, Jacob Dickinson, and Justin Dickinson, sister-in-law Sue Dickinson of Greenville, and brother-in-law Jerry (Patty) Kennedy of Powderly.

GREENVILLE, KY., Betty Faye Adams, 84, of Greenville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. Adams was born in Greenville on February 2, 1938 to Fred and Flora Crick Moore. She retired from Audubon Area Head Start after 19 years of loving and teaching hundreds of children, many of whom she reconnected with on Facebook years later. Her greatest joys in life were her kids, grandkids, her dog Dusty, and talking on the phone with her church friends. Betty was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer Adams, sisters Nona Mae Ford and Louise Underwood, brother Rufus Moore, and her great-granddaughter Summer Nell Bratcher.
She is survived by her son Alvin (Donna Coakley) Adams of Sacramento, her daughter Tami (Wayne) Hardison of Greenville, 2 granddaughters Megan (Jessy Bratcher) Vincent and Macy (Nathan Tabor) Vincent, 1 grandson Ethan Edwards, 2 great grandchildren Maxton Tabor and Eliana Bratcher, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were like family.

Greenville, KY., Darryl Wade “Big Dog” McIntosh, 63, of Greenville passed away on January 5, 2023 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born on October 24, 1959 in Greenville the son of the late Freeman McIntosh and Ruby Nell Sears McIntosh. He was a substance abuse counselor for 35 years and he loved people and his family.
He enjoyed playing keyboard, and his piano playing touched many people, as he played for churches and at home.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Gail McIntosh, 2 sons Doug Nantz and Tommy (Barbara) Nantz, 1 daughter Melissa (Darren) Webster, 5 grandsons Bailey Morris, Zach Morris, Tristen Nantz, Dylan Nantz, and Caden Nantz, 2 great grandsons Wyatt and Kieran, 1 great granddaughter Everly, 1 brother Jeff (Christy) McIntosh, and 1 nephew Brandon McIntosh.

She was born in Breckinridge County on November 14, 1941 the daughter of Amiel and Lorean Phillips. She was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. She and her husband the late Norvill Simmons were married for 56 years. She was the co-owner of Donna and Linda’s Boutique and retired from the Greenville City Clerk’s office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Dan Phillips, and her sister Wilma Richerson.

MADISONVILLE, KY., Carl Junior Jones, 78, of Madisonville passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Muhlenberg County on August 14, 1944 the son of the late Rhea Jones and Ethel Rhoads Jones. In Carl’s younger years he loved deer and turkey hunting. He loved watching old westerns, and his favorite show was Gunsmoke. He loved spending time on the river with his brother, nieces, and nephews. He loved pulling jokes on his family by waking them up in the middle of the night after working a long shift at the steel mill. He has left us with funny stories that will be passed down for years to come things we will never forget. Carl worked as a steel mill worker from 1976 - 1997 when he retired and returned home to Kentucky where he was raised. He will be very missed by all our family until we meet him again.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Harold Jones and Harlan Jones and a sister Dorothy Jones Gossett.
He is survived by his only brother Jerry W. Jones, a sister-in-law Doris Jackson Jones.
He never married or had children but was blessed with an abundance of nieces and nephews Jerriann (Jones) and Arlie Griffin, Danny Jones, Terry and Leah (Greer) Jones, Mike and Nancy Jones, Connie (Jones) and Rick Brewster, Steve Gossett, Eric Gossett, Rick and Debbie (Morton) Gossett, many more great nieces and nephews.

She was born in Hart County near Munfordville, KY on November 18, 1941 the daughter of Levi Adair Cartmill and Lucy Emma Franklin Cartmill. She was a case manager for Human Resources in Muhlenberg County. She had many friends and family, was in the DAR, and researched her own family history back through the Revolutionary War.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William Scott Phillips.

She was born in Louisville, KY on December 20, 1953 the daughter of Ernest Thomas Jackson and Anita Webb Jackson. She was a telephone pole lineman for Bell South, a championship soccer coach, a Cub Scout leader, retiree from the bus garage, and a Harley rider. She was always up for a game of Bingo, and she loved her dog Nila. Mrs. Boren was a member of Mercy Hill Church.

He was a maintenance foreman and retired from Commonwealth Aluminum in 1991 after 25 years. He loved to fish and restore old cars. He was an accomplished guitar player and was a member of the Thumbpickers’ Hall of Fame.

GREENVILLE, KY., Hilda Dean Hale, 84, of Greenville passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Maple Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville. She was born in Muhlenberg County on November 14, 1938 the daughter of Cecil Wright and Anna Spears Wright. She and her husband founded J & H Tasty Bakery in Greenville in 1982 and owned it for 35 years. She was a member of Luzerne General Baptist Church and was the oldest living member. She loved her church, served there as secretary-treasurer for 40 years and sang in the church choir. As a member of the Wright Family, she participated in making several recordings.
Mrs. Hale was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Edith Lyons, and 2 brothers Donald Wright and Jerry Wright.

He was born in Muhlenberg County on June 22, 1925, the son of Charles Roscoe Reeves and Ruth Browning Reeves. He was a member of Vernal Grove Baptist Church. He was a school bus driver for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education and was a farmer all of his life.
He was an Army veteran serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jimmy Reeves, a daughter Wanda O’Neal, a brother Roscoe Reeves, and 3 sisters Anna Bell Majors, Immogene Maggard, and Eva Mae Reeves.

He was an Army veteran and was a member of Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from TVA as a machinist in 2001. He was a UK basketball fan, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Charlesann Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Beverly Ann Johnson of Greenville, 2 daughters Sheryl (Alan) Turpen of Florence, AL and Shannon (Jeff) Grundy of Greenville, 3 grandchildren Allyson Farris, Benjamin (Liz) Turpen, and Karsyn Grundy, 1 great-granddaughter Isla Ruth Farris, 1 brother Mike (Rita) Johnson of Central City.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville and after 9:00 AM on Saturday until time of funeral.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. John Day officiating assisted by Rev. Kerry Vincent. Burial will follow in Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville, KY.
