Greenville, KY., Jim Randall Howe, Jr., 62, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville. He was born in Greenville on August 8, 1960 the son of Jim Randall Howe, Sr. and Jane Howe. He was a long-haul trucker for 35 years. He adored his wife and he enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years Patty Ann Corwin Howe of Greenville, his mother Jane Howe of Greenville, 5 children Tracy (Christopher) Eylens of Lafayette, IN., Tina Rowland of Lafayette, IN., DJ Rowland of Greenville, Kenny (Melissa) Rowland of Greenville, and Ashley (Bobby) Rowland of Greenville, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 sister Kim (John) Pope of Greenville, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. 

Services will be private. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.   

POWDERLY, KY., Steven Brian Hilliard, 71, of Powderly passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his residence. He was born on December 11, 1951 in Detroit, MI., the son of the late Earl Hilliard and Willodean Steele Hilliard. He was a coal miner and worked for Hopkins County Coal Mines. While he was in the US Army, he served in Vietnam. He was a car enthusiast and he loved collecting Hot Wheels.

He is survived by 3 daughters Jeannie Hosman, Angela Caudill, and Brandy Terry, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. 

Services will be private. A burial with military honors will be held in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.   

DRAKESBORO, KY., Tracy Lynn Gary, 61, of Drakesboro passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Greenville on September 25, 1961 the daughter of Obie Gene Gary and Mary Elaine Reed Gary. She was of the Baptist faith and she had worked at Walmart and Flynn Industries in Greenville. She loved her family and grandbabies most of all, but also enjoyed fishing and gardening. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Terry Gary, and sister Helen Jean Gary.

She is survived by her life-long partner of 50 years Roger Landrum of Drakesboro, 1 son Barry Gary of Drakesboro, 1 daughter Amy Gary of Drakesboro, 3 grandchildren Jarrod Fulkerson, Mariah Allen, and Paige Gary, 3 brothers Jeff (Amie) Gary of Mason, OH., Anthony Gary of Beech Creek, and Jason (Michelle) Wilkins of Paducah, 4 sisters Kimberly Campbell of Nashville, TN., Glorius Dugger of Drakesboro, Marilyn (Shawn) LeGrand of Pensacola, FL., and Mary Beth Wilkins of Gulf Port, MS., several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home.

GREENVILLE, KY., Deborah Ann Hopper, 69, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville, KY. She was born in Muhlenberg County on October 18, 1953 the daughter of Justice William Uzzle and Rose Marie Grace Uzzle. 

She was a housewife and a homemaker. She was a member of New Life Church in Powderly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerry Uzzle. 

She is survived by her husband of 45 years Curtis Hopper of Greenville, 1 sister Shirley (Ricky) Holland of Central City, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

GREENVILLE, KY., Stephen “Neal” Glover, 58 of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro. Neal was born on October 14, 1964 in Owensboro, the son of Gerald Douglas Glover and Wyota King Glover. He was a building contractor by trade, a computer “genius”, an artistic painter, and a photographer. His hobby was working with computers and working puzzles. He loved cats and his special niece Paisley Grace, and he had a kind and loving heart for anyone.

Neal is survived by his wife of 15 years Daphne Elaine Glover of Greenville, his parents Gerald Douglas and Wyota King Glover of Owensboro, 4 sisters Gerri Glover of Dallas, TX., Debbie (Lafey) Blair of Utica, Nancy (Kevin) Wasko of Louisville, and Sara (Buddy) Long of Bethpage, TN., several nieces and nephews, 1 great nephew, special great niece Paisley Grace (Potato Sack) Cobb.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY.

GREENVILLE, KY., Wanda Dell Skipworth Lovell, 82, of Greenville, passed away at her home in on March 13, 2023. Wanda was born on December 9, 1940 in Muhlenberg County, KY. Wanda and her husband Robert were members of Greenville United Methodist Church. Wanda retired from Kentucky Utilities in Greenville.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Aubrey and Odell Skipworth, her sister Brenda Carver, her great-niece Tatum Hope Carver, her in-laws Roy and Margaret Lovell, and brother-in-law Billy Lovell.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years Robert Franklin Lovell, her sisters Linda (Dwight) Wells of Greenville and Jeanie (David) Danks of Lewisburg, in-laws James Carver of Greenville, Donald (Regenia) Lovell of Greenville, Freda Lovell of Beechmont, nephews and nieces Tim (Marty) Carver, Amy (Chad) Gregory, Jon (Jill) Carver, Zak Danks, Laura Beth Wells,

Greenville, KY., Stella May Stiles, 79, of Greenville passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 9, 1943 the daughter of James David Hottle and Mary Pound Hottle. She retired in 2013 from DASO Department of Defense in Columbus, Ohio after working for 30 years in cyber security.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Jose Hottle Reece, 2 brothers Paul Hottle and David Hottle, and a grandson Roman Deana.

She is survived by 3 sons Dr. Todd (Laura) Stiles of Greenville, Mark Stiles of Cordova, TN., and Scott (Evelyn) Stiles of Eads, TN., 1 daughter Misty (Dan) Deana of Panama City, FL., 9 grandchildren Harper Lee Stiles, Hunter Lee Stiles, Harrison Lee Stiles, Anthony Deana, Callie Stiles, Coy Stiles, Caden Stiles, Noah Stiles, and Jesse Stiles, 1 brother James Hottle of Newark, OH.

GREENVILLE, KY., Mattie Lauretter Mallory, 95, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenville. She was born in Todd County on August 13, 1927 the daughter of Hugh Owens and Pernie Ethel Matthews Owens. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Christian lady. Mattie has been a resident of the Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation since 2019 when her health declined and her knee gave out on her which prevented her from walking. Mattie was a stay-at-home housewife while rearing her children. She loved to read her Bible and visit with her family and friends. She loved to travel in her younger days when she was able. She also loved to play Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her baby girl Barbara Jean Mallory, her 2 daughters Sandra Dean Mallory-Huff and Mattie Lou Mallory-Underwood, her ex-husband David Paul Mallory, her son Norman Ray Mallory, and her grandson Marty Lee Mallory.

She is survived by 2 sons Paul Glen Mallory of Greenville and Roy (Judy) Mallory of Greenville, 1 daughter Linda (Paul) Douglas of Browder, 1 daughter-in-law Kathleen Mallory of Carmi, IL, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Myrtie Owens-Kennedy of Beech Creek and Oretha Owens Joines of Beech Creek, 1 brother Andrew Owens of London, TN, many nieces and nephews throughout the USA.

MORTONS GAP, KY., Flora Bell Gibson, 92, of Mortons Gap passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Ridgewood Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was born in Muhlenberg County on May 11, 1930 the daughter of Henry Thomas Majors and Raine Groves Majors. She was a member of White Plains Holiness Church and she retired from Ford Motor Company as a factory worker. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Gilbert Brown, her second husband Huston Vanvactor, her 3rd husband Grover Cleveland Gibson, son Lyndel “Bud” Ray, daughter Jean Brown Ward, daughter-in-law Barbara Ann Jones Brown, 1 sister Hallie Majors Humphrey, 3 brothers Fount Majors, Orville Majors, and Jesse Majors.

She is survived by 1 son Gilbert Lee Brown of Dawson Springs, 4 granddaughters Lisa Brown, Kim Johnson, Annette (Howard) Ford, and Stacey (Chuck) Riggs, 10 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home.

BEECHMONT, KY., Gregory Lynn Stirsman, 65, of Beechmont passed away on February 20, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Greenville on October 12, 1957 the son of the late William Glenn Stirsman Jr. and Zada Inez Fairchild Stirsman. He worked at Stirsman Sinclair Gas Station and Auto Glass Plus and was a coal truck driver.   

He is survived by 2 brothers Terry Stirsman of Owensboro and Kelly (Rhonda) Stirsman of Greenville, niece Jill Stirsman of Greenville, great nephew Cody Latham of Dunmor.

There will be no visitation.

Horn Lake, MS., Deborah Carolyn Navarro, 66, of Horn Lake passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2023 at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital in Olive Branch Mississippi. She was born in Greenville on March 24, 1956 the daughter of J.B. Wells and Margory Lee Epley Horton. 

She is survived by 3 sons Zachery Navarro, Jacob Navarro, and Felix Navarro, 2 daughter-in-law Jessica Navarro and Kimberly Navarro, 4 grandchildren Camden Navarro age 11, Lucas Navarro age 9, Maya Navarro age 5, and Leah Navarro age 19, brother Timothy Horton.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Olive Grove Cemetery in Greenville, KY with Rev. Tom Stovall officiating and burial will follow.

GREENVILLE, KY., Rosie Maebelle Walker, 94, of Greenville passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Ms. Walker was born in Greenville on November 27, 1928 the daughter of Delbert Phillips and Ethel Dukes Phillips. She was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church and was a housewife and a homemaker. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, taking walks on the farm, and working with flowers.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years Richard M. “Mug” Walker Sr., and 2 sisters Wanell Walker and Margaret Wiggins.  

She is survived by 3 sons Richard (Amy) Walker, Jr. of Greenville, Stan (Jill) Walker of Greenville, and Shawn (Lori) Walker of Greenville, 1 daughter Lana Beth (Danny) Johnson of Greenville, 8 grandchildren Kirsten (Mark) Oates, Richard (Sara) Johnson, Ashley (Richard) Braem, John Walker, Aaron (Abby) Johnson, Jacob Walker, Michael (Hannah) Walker, and Stephanie Walker,

15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

GLASGOW, KY., Alma Edna Jessup, 94, of Glasgow formerly of Burkesville passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at her home. Alma was born on July 23, 1928 in the Depoy Community of Muhlenburg County to the late Edwin Carroll Short and Lillie Scott Short. Alma and her husband owned and operated the Alpine Resort and Restaurant in Burkesville for 13 years and was a member of Burkesville Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James Norman Jessup, siblings James Lloyd Short and his wife Pearl, Mary Lois Ezell and her husband Grady and C.E. Short and his wife Betty and one great granddaughter, Aurora Valdez.

Survivors include 5 children Doyle Lee Jessup (Rosetta) and Anita Vincent (Jimmy) all of Greenville, Rodney Jessup (Kay) of Burkesville, Connie Sue Jessup and Elizabeth Ann Wade (Kevin) both of Glasgow. 11 grandchildren Jeremy Jessup, Heather Autry, Jessica Sweeney, Marcus Valdez, Jeremy Gore, Jennifer Carver, Sarah Meadows, Stefan Meadows, Summer Shannon, Jackson Wade, Mason Wade, 16 great grandchildren Ethan, Jordan, Bailey, Jameson, Braxton, Jordan, Austin, McKayla, Gavin, Collin, Lilly, Vallie, Linley, Taliyah, Noah, Elijah, 2 great great grandchildren Anniston and Xander, along with a host of other relatives and friends

GREENVILLE, KY., Martha Bell Robinson, 90, of Greenville passed away peacefully at her home on February 17, 2023. Mrs. Robinson was born on June 27, 1932 in Greenville the daughter of Frank and Hazel Steele. She grew up in the Nebo neighborhood, attended Nebo School, then went on to graduate from Greenville High School. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the Kentucky Wildcats even when they played poorly. She loved the outdoors and camping and always had beautiful flower gardens. She was kind and loving and loved her family. She was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters Kim Robinson and Melissa Robinson, sister Janice Faye Steele, 3 brothers Junior, Robbie, and Tommy Steele.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Wilber Jake Robinson of Greenville, 2 daughters Cretia Robinson of Bowling Green and Connie Robinson of Greenville, 1 sister Becky Harkins of Greenville, 1 brother Kenneth Steele of Greenville.

GREENVILLE, KY., Lloyd Eugene Loney, 84, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Muhlenberg County on January 18, 1939 the son of William Darwin Loney and Juanita “Bill” Vincent Loney. He served in the US Army stationed in Germany. One of his greatest pleasures was watching certain favorite TV shows like Gunsmoke, MASH, Hogan’s Heroes, and Andy Griffith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years Wanda Aileen Loney, daughter Terri Loney, son-in-law Ronald Joe Rhoades, and 3 brothers Tommy Loney, Joe Loney, and Delbert Loney.

He is survived by 2 daughters Jennifer Rhoades of Greenville and Rhonda (John) Doyle of Glasgow, 4 grandchildren Lora (Chris) Ellis, Kaila Anderson, Joshua Doyle, and Hannah Doyle, 3 great grandchildren Lacy Ellis, Blake Ellis, and Madilyn Sova, brother-in-law Hubert (Kay) Joines Jr. of Greenville, sister-in-law Claudia Loney of Huntsville, AL., several nieces and nephews.

JACKSONVILLE, FL., Mary Dydemia Childers Gwaltney, 91, formerly of Greenville passed away at The Terrace of Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL Friday, January 13, 2023. Mary was born on June 27, 1931 in Cahokia, IL to Arthur and Mollie Holland Childers. In June 1947 she married Delbert Leslie Gwaltney and immediately became the wife of a Navy Seabee. They lived in various locations across the United States and in Okinawa, Japan during Delbert’s Navy career. They eventually retired to Greenville where Mary enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly. She loved playing video games, watching the St Louis Cardinals, singing, and playing the piano. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert, her siblings, and youngest son Robert (Rob). 

She is survived by 2 sons Delbert, Jr (Barbara) of Arizona and Mike (Roni) of Jacksonville, FL., 4 grandchildren Gina Gwaltney of Orangeburg, SC., Shawn Gwaltney of St Augustine, FL., Clark Gwaltney of Olive Branch, MS., and Robin Gwaltney Johnston of Greenville, daughter-in-law Joy Clark Gwaltney of Senatobia, MS., and 8 great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00am at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY. 

A private family burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

LOUISVILLE, KY., Bradford P Robinson, 72, of Louisville passed away January 4, 2023 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY. Brad as he was known was born January 6, 1950 in Louisville. Brad was loved by many, and he was a Christian man who was a lover of classic cars. 

He is proceeded in death by his parents Mary Madeline Wilkinson of Greenville and Richard Robinson of Louisville. 

Brad is survived by his daughter Gennie of Mt Washington and girlfriend Linda Daniels of Salem, IN. 

Mr. Robinson had chosen to be cremated. 

Family has chosen not to have a service at this time. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BEAVER DAM, KY., Dennis Lee Horn, 68, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Atypical Parkinsonism. Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Greenville High School and earned a BBA from The College of Insurance, New York City, NY in 1980. During his varied career, he owned Dennis' Market, Greenville, KY for 5 years, Lebanon IGA, Lebanon, TN for 5 years, was an underwriter with INA Insurance in Houston, TX for 3 years, an Allstate Insurance Agent for 25 years in Brentwood, TN, and has owned Horn Insurance Depot, Beaver Dam, KY since 2012. He became a Christian at a young age and was a member of First Christian Church, Greenville, KY. Dennis loved to travel and lived in New York, Texas, Kansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He would not hesitate to help someone in need. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin Ray and Mary Edith Horn of Greenville, KY. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Darlene Horn, his beloved daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Sumner of Salem, IN., son Alexander Lee Horn of Murfreesboro, TN, his cherished granddaughter Stella Rae Sumner, his brothers Wayne (Kayla) Horn, Greenville, and Terry (Robin) Horn of Peachtree City, GA and a sister Denise (Brad) Sparks, Greenville, KY. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at Carters Creek Cemetery with Rev. Paul Moore officiating.
