GREENVILLE, KY., Lenvil Jones, 63, of Greenville passed away at his home May 4, 2022. He was born November 26, 1958, the oldest son to Arthur Ray Jones and Jewell Groves Jones. He was a farmer and later became disabled.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Julie Dukes, both of his baby brothers Ricky Jones and Jeffery Jones.
He is survived by 2 daughters Stacy Arndell Tracy (Jeremy) Groves, 4 grandchildren Brooklyn Wise, Charles “Hunter” Groves, Bentley Groves, and Audrey Groves, 2 sisters Ann (Jerry) Winn and Brenda (Kirk) Lear, ex-wife of 19 years Cyntheia Jones, long-time friend and companion Victoria Furlong, several nieces, great nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville Tuesday May 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM conducted by Larry Hancock. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery in Greenville.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service for family and friends.

Greenville, KY., Jettia Mae Duvall, 92, of Greenville passed away on Monday June 6, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Central City on April 28, 1930 the daughter of Samuel Franklin Morris and Ida Florence Tooley Morris. She was a factory worker for Emerson Electric, and had worked as a kitchen staff person at Lake Malone Inn, Longest Elementary School, and other places in the county. She was a member of New Harmony General Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J. T. “Frog” Duvall in 1986, 10 sisters, and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her companion Mark Everett of Greenville, her daughter Melinda (Paul) Newman of Greenville, 2 grandchildren Wesley Newman and Jacqueline Newman, several nieces and nephews.

GREENVILLE, KY., Stephen Wright Gary, 72, of Greenville passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1:55 pm in the Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Steve was born on April 6, 1950 in Greenville the son of the late Irvin Wright Gary and Ima Nell Finley Gary. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and worked for Gary’s Funeral Home for 52 years. Steve graduated from Greenville High School in 1968 and attended Western Kentucky University followed by Kentucky Embalming School, where he graduated. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville where he had served as a deacon. Steve was an active member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244, the Kiwanis Club of Greenville and the Rizpah Temple in Madisonville. Through his involvement with the Shriner’s, Steve was able to help many children receive the care they needed.
Steve is survived by his mother Ima Nell Finley Gary of Greenville, 1 brother Jim (Dottie) Gary of Louisville, 1 sister Jane (Mark) Hankins of Greenville, 3 nieces Anne (Jeremy) McGill of Greenville, Sarah (James) Wester of Greenville, and Jennifer (Marc) Linden of Louisville, 1 nephew Ben Gary of Louisville, 4 great nephews Brady, Christian, Hank and Sam.
Visitation will be private.
Private graveside services will be conducted from Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville by his brother, James Gary and Reverend John Galyen.
GREENVILLE, KY., Edward Hayes Browning, 81, of Greenville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born on August 21, 1940, the son of Eura and Josine Browning. Eddie was a 1958 graduate of Greenville High School. He was married to the love of his life, Sandra, in 1960. Eddie spent his early career as a coal miner and then over 30 years selling cars. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as a leader, deacon, teacher, and volunteer for many years. Eddie loved playing cards with his brothers, Joe, John, and Bob. He especially enjoyed their legendary Rook games where they kept an annual tally for bragging rights. He was passionate about helping people whether it was assisting them with buying a car or through volunteering at his church. He wanted his family and his church to know his deep love for them.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years Sandra Richardson Browning in 2020.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa Atherton (Alan) of Hermitage, TN, son Mark Browning of Houston, TX, and son Neil Browning (Holly) of Greenville, grandson Nick (Margaret) Atherton, granddaughters Laura Atherton, Alli (Jay Newcom) Browning, Madison Browning, brothers Joe (Mary) Browning, John (Karen) Browning, Bob (Jackie) Browning, sister-in-law Sarah Richardson, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

GREENVILLE, KY., Marcia Evelyn McIntosh, 88, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on June 7, 1933, in Todd County, the daughter of the late Leo and Lena Edwards. She was a retired teacher, having taught for over 30 years at Longest Elementary School in Powderly. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a long-time member of the Greenville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Euvia McIntosh of Greenville, 2 sons Larry McIntosh of Greenville and Jerry (Cindy) McIntosh of Mayfield, 1 sister Geraldine Vinson of Lewisburg, 2 grandchildren Ashley McIntosh of Nashville, TN and Katie Beth (Kane) McCord of Mayfield, 2 step-grandchildren Sarah Rhoades of Clarksville, TN and Tori Davenport of Sacramento.

She was born in Buras on May 2, 1935 the daughter of Frank Butler and Maggie Cahill Butler. She retired from Muhlenberg County Board of Education after 10 years where she worked as a cook at Greenville Elementary School. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was a wonderful cook and she loved her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers Carl Butler, Gene Butler, Stoy Butler, and R. A. Butler.

She was born in Bardstown on January 14, 1948, the daughter of Joseph Wimsatt and Annie Ailene Nally Wimsatt. She liked to spoil her grandchildren and she was a collector of bells.

He was born in Greenville on November 30, 1940, the son of Holbert Grace and Alline Sherrod Grace. He was a self-employed truck driver and owned Walt Grace Enterprises, Inc. He also owned Blue Moon Car Wash for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ina Grace, and his son Kenny Grace.

She was born in Nebo on April 7, 1923 the daughter of John Steele and Martha Majors Steele. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of the Greenville Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 75 years G. B. Rolley, and 12 siblings.

He was born in Ohio County on June 3, 1966 the son of Freddie Clay Smith, Sr. and Mary Alice Griffin Groves. He was the maintenance manager at Willow Creek Mobile Home Park. He attended the Cathedral of Hope Church in Greenville. He liked to fish, and loved his grandchildren and his dog, Shorty.

She was born in Oakville, KY in Logan County, on October 28, 1936 the daughter of Herbert Humer Grayson and Annie Margaret Hayes Grayson. Mrs. Wells was the owner of Regina’s Ceramics and Tanning, and she was a seamstress. She was a member of Greenville Christian Church, and she was a self-employed state certified nurse practitioner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 38 years Carl W. Wells, 2 brothers William Grayson and Douglas Grayson, and 2 sisters Maxine King and Ruthella Holman.
She is survived by 3 sons Richard (Tammy) Gardner of Graham, Russell (Leesa) Gardner of Knoxville, TN., and Randal (Dita) Gardner of Fort Walton Beach, FL., 1 stepson Freddie Keith (Becki) Wells of Hopkinsville, 1 stepdaughter Rita Carlene (Russ) Burchett of Springfield, TN., 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.

GREENVILLE, KY., Doris Johnson Curry of Greenville passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 21, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family and the assurance of God’s grace. Doris was born in Beech Creek on May 5, 1933, the oldest daughter of Loyd and Alma Johnson. Doris graduated from the Hughes Kirk High School and Murray State University as a registered nurse. During her career, Doris worked at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, the medical office at TVA and taught Health Occupation students at the Muhlenberg County Vocational School for 24 years. In 1988 Doris was the Vocational Teacher of the Year in the Commonwealth of KY. Doris was an active member of Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Curry in 2003 and her brother Kenneth Johnson.
Doris is survived by her children Mark, Jeffrey (Tom Ekman) and Susan, 4 grandchildren Jason (Whitney) Curry, Christina (Jonathan) Kippler, Derek (Sarah) Ferguson, and Grant (Morgan) Ferguson, 4 great-granddaughters Rhyan Curry, Blake Curry, Annabel Ferguson, and Josephine Ferguson, 1 great-grandson Preston Ferguson, 2 sisters Sue Johnson and Debbie (John) Houghland, many wonderful nieces and nephews. Our family is forever grateful for her wonderful caregivers Margie, Jo, Sheila, Isaac, Rita, Brooklyn, Robin and Crystal and the nurses and staff at Hospice of Western Kentucky.

GREENVILLE, KY., Richard Powell “Dick” Countzler, 93, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Dick was born December 31, 1928, in Louisville to the late Reginald Powell Countzler and Jenny Taylor Countzler. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1947 and Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham, Alabama in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. While at Howard College, Dick met Martha Jean Rose of Elizabethton, Tennessee who was also a pharmacy student at Howard College and graduated in 1951. Dick and Martha were married December 28, 1950, at First Baptist Church in Elizabethton. Following graduation from Howard College Dick entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Pharmacist at Fort Belvoir, Virginia from 1952 – 1954. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a pharmacist at Robard’s Drugs in Madisonville. Dick and Martha moved to Greenville where he became co-owner of Countzler’s Drug Store with his father and brother. He retired in 1992. Dick was an active member of Greenville United Methodist Church where he served in many roles and leadership capacities until his death. He was a founding member of Habitat for Humanity of Muhlenberg County and active in the Celebrate Recovery and Great Banquet ministries. He was active in his community serving on the Greenville School Board, a board member of First State Bank and Old National Bank, and the Evergreen Cemetery board.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife Martha in 2011, his daughter Susan Countzler Carey in 2004, son-in-law Brad Carey in 2017, brother Eddie Countzler in 2010 and sister-in-law Mildred Countzler in 2008.
Dick is survived by his son John (Sandy) Countzler of Houston, TX., daughter Anne (David) McKnight of Durham, North Carolina, granddaughter Beth (Rodney) Morrow, great-granddaughter Adelaide Morrow of Houston, TX., grandson Brian Bradley of Owensboro. stepmother Nancy Countzler, sisters Stacy Countzler Warren and Suzie Countzler (Richard Piper) all of Greenville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank caregivers Ashlee, Joy, Pam, Robin, Sharon, and Tammy as well as the staff of Hospice of Western Kentucky for their care and support of Dick while at home.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Greenville United Methodist Church, 144 North Main Street, Greenville.

GREENVILLE, KY., Louis Emuell Kirby, Jr., 69, of Greenville passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Nashville, TN on May 28, 1952 the son of the late Louis Emuell Kirby, Sr and Ramer Neeley Ford Kirby. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Greenville. He retired in August 1991 as a Staff Sergeant in the Army after 20 years and later retired from the Green River Correctional Facility in Central City.

GREENVILLE, KY., Pauline Stanley, 80, of Depoy passed away Wednesday February 9, 2022, at 12:41 pm in the Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Pauline was born in Union County, Ky February 14, 1941, To the late Kathryn and Woodrow Blackburn. She loved her family and all her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and she loved music. She loved Chubby Checker music, such as the twist. She collected Betty Boop items, she liked to fish, sew, sing, crochet, and was even known to dance to the twist at times. She loved flowers of all types, especially roses. She loved to cook for her family and raised four of her grandchildren along with her late husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years James McCoy Stanley Sr. and her son Wesley Eli Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her parents Kathryn and Woodrow Blackburn, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her 8 children James McCoy Stanley Jr., Tina Pauline (Jack) Wood, Daphne Elaine (Neal) Glover, Anthony Woodrow Stanley, Jesse (Kelsey) Cobb, Camilla (Logan) Graham, Darla Cobb, and DJ (Brianna) Cobb, 4 grandchildren Cameron (Courtney) Cobb, Lolitta Wood, Lucus Wood, and Laura Wood, 7 great-grandchildren Layla Graham, Kaycee Graham, Bentley Mains, Grayson Mains, Bradley Cobb, soon to be Oliver Cobb, and Paisley Cobb, several nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday, February 12, 2022, morning 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Gary’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Gary’s Funeral in Greenville, Kentucky. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.
