GRAHAM, KY., Winford “Humby” Scott, 93, of Graham passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. He was born in Muhlenberg County on August 26, 1929 the son of Elijah Scott and Luella Scott Hayes. He was a member of East Union Baptist Church and was a Mason. He worked for River Queen Mines for 40 years, and he liked to garden and to watch the Kentucky Wildcats. He enjoyed being with his family and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Blonnie Scott, a son Ronnie Scott, 3 brothers Ezra, Charles, and Hayes Scott, and 2 sisters Lorene Grace and Lucille Hoover.
He is survived by 2 sons Barry (Dawn) Scott of Canton, GA and Brian (Tina) Scott of Greenville, 2 grandchildren Thomas Scott and Lauren Scott.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 4PM until 7PM and on Saturday, September 10, 2022 after 11AM until time of funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.

BOWLING GREEN, KY., Billy Leroy Latham, 75, of Bowling Green formerly of Rosewood passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his residence. He was born on January 18, 1947 in Greenville the son of Fred Latham and Virginia Lee Dukes Latham. He was a member of Rosewood United Methodist Church, loved UK basketball and loved to fish. He also enjoyed going on cruises.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Danny and Bobby Latham, and a sister Betty Latham.
He is survived by 3 brothers Steve (Wanda) Latham of Belton, Henry (Vianna) Latham of Belton, and Dennis (Maggie) Latham of Kent, WA., 3 sisters Dianne Winsett of West Plains, MO., Gwen (Billy) Carlock of Lewisburg, and Linda (Glen) Craig of Springfield, TN., many nieces and nephews.

OWENSBORO, KY., Anna Margaret Duke, 102, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Carmel Home in Owensboro. She was born August 26, 1920 in Muhlenberg County to Estell and Lucy White Dukes. She was retired from General Electric and was a world traveler. She visited 30 countries and all 50 states. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Service Sunday School class.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ed Duke, a son Tom Duke, a brother Owen (Buddy) Dukes, and a niece Pat Mercer.
Survivors include her son Joe (Patty) Duke of Westerville, OH, 3 grandchildren John (Theresa) Duke, Jason (Jennifer) Duke, and Dana (Steve) Watsford, 3 great grandchildren Helena, Ben, and Hannah Duke, a niece Sharon Drace, great nieces Tara (Tim) Williams, Heather (Bruce) Baldwin, Kristie (Thomas) Colburn, Shannon Henson, and Stephanie O’Neal, caregiver Larry Mercer, special friends Will Smith and Derry Billingsley.

GREENVILLE, KY., Paul Darwin Denney, 86, of Owensville passed away from a brief illness on September 6, 2022 at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenville, Kentucky. He was born November 07, 1935 in Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky, and was the only child of Finley and Grace Bell Denney. He was of the Baptist faith and joined the Church at an early age. He graduated from Wayne County High School in 1953, trained as a paratrooper in the United States Army and lived most of the rest of his life in Greenville, Kentucky where he retired from Green River Gas as an oil and gas well driller and maintenance technician. He was a Master Mason in the Pond River Lodge and a Kentucky Colonel. At different times in his life, he had enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, investing in the stock market, and Sunday morning breakfast with his friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Finley and Grace Denney, his first wife and the mother of his children Billie June Myers Denney, infant Mary Beth Denney, fathers and mothers-in-law David and Cora Mae Myers of Greenville and Silas and Nora West of Oneida, TN, and brother-in-law Donny Myers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years Norma Jean West Denney, son Michael (Jill) Denney of Crossville, TN., grandsons Taylor Denney of Crossville, TN., and Spencer (Alexis) Denney of Spring City, TN., granddaughter Celia Denney of Nashville, TN., stepdaughter Donna (Greg) Martin of Greenville, step grandson Jeremy (Rachel Shelton) Howe of Greenville, and step great granddaughter Teela Howe of Greenville.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 6pm Friday at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY with graveside services being held at 12noon EST Saturday at Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, KY.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years James Albert Snyder, her daughter Sandy O’Bannon, and 4 brothers Cecil, Jimmy, Donnie, and Darrell Lee.

She was born in Muhlenberg County on September 10, 1930 the daughter of Hershel Lear and Dora Elizabeth Mayes Lear. She was a housewife and a homemaker. She was a member of Joines Chapel General Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and working on the family farm.
Mrs. Hope was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years Sep Hope in 2011 and a sister Eula Dell Jones in 2020.

BREMEN, KY., Gary Dewayne Vanover, 66, of Bremen passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. Gary was a member of Lifeway Church and had a deep love for the Lord. He was a mason by trade until his retirement and enjoyed golfing, his Mustang and collecting things. He loved to go on trips to the beach and the Smokey Mountains and had wonderful memories of trips taken to the races with his sisters and kids. Gary enjoyed sports and played basketball and baseball at Bremen High School and was inducted in the Muhlenberg County Athletic Hall of Fame for the 1971 Muhlenberg County State Champions Babe Ruth All Stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tommy, Jr. and Sarah Louise Vanover, sister Shelia Jo Melendez, grandchild Kaitlyn Vanover and wife Jennie “Sam” Vanover.
He is survived by his wife Brenda McGehee, siblings Shirley (Gary) Covington, Danny (Nancy) Vanover, and Angie (David Loney) Harris, children Amy (Rick) Woosley, Nathan (Michele) Vanover, Jonathan (Thresa) Vanover, Jason (Sarah Harvel-Heltsley) Stallins, and Chris (Tina) Stallins, along with stepchildren Glenn McGehee, Katrina McGehee, and Shannon Plunkett through his beloved wife, Brenda. Gary also had grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved and who loved him, several nieces and nephews, cousins and especially Jeff Vanover, with whom he also shared a special bond of friendship.
He will be sorely missed by his many friends and loved ones.

GRAHAM, KY., Martha Jean Locke Roark, 90, of Graham passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at home after a lengthy illness. Martha was born on April 27, 1932 in Graham, KY the daughter of Paul and Idocia Vincent Locke. She was raised in Graham and graduated from Graham School in 1950 as the salutatorian of her class. After graduation she married James Delbert (J.D.) Roark, Sr. from Graham and they had 5 children. Martha worked at G.E. in Owensboro and York Borg Warner in Madisonville where she later retired. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 56 years where she held many offices. Martha was also a devoted Christian and a life-long member of Corley Chapel Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher and church pianist.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Delbert (J.D.) Roark, Sr., her parents Paul and Idocia Locke, a son James Delbert Roark, Jr., a daughter Elizabeth Ann Stevens, 2 sisters Ernestine and Vonda Locke, and a brother Densel Locke.
She is survived by three daughters Dana (Ronnie) Vincent of Powderly, Carol (Don Storch) Word of Graham, Leslie Rolley (Blain Mepham) of Shorewood, IL., a son-in-law David Stevens of Graham, a daughter-in-law Lequetta Roark of Greenville, 2 sisters Pauletta (Vernon) Richardson of Greenville, Phyllis (Steve) Mead of Rockport, IN., 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was born in Greenville, KY on March 18, 1961 the daughter of Tillie Mitchell and Mina Gertrude Hall Mitchell. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked at Ensign-Bickford. She worked for many years at the Greenville McDonald’s, the happy face in the window. She loved all of her customers and her animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Wallace, Junior, and Donnie Mitchell, and 3 sisters Mary Mitchell, Sue Holderman, and Louise Whirley.

GREENVILLE, KY., Mary Lee Doss, 65, of Greenville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, August 7, 2022 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was born the daughter of John William and Thelma Carver Sherrod on August 19, 1956. Mary Lee had been married to her high school sweetheart Kenny for just over 46 years. She wore a beautiful and contagious smile, spending 44 years brightening the smiles of others as a hygienist, with over 30 of those years at Dr. Mary Brown’s. Mary Lee also served alongside Kenny as bookkeeper for 20 years at Commercial Printing, previously her father’s business. Mary Lee loved attending car shows with her husband and car show buddies, spending time anywhere with her kids and grandkids, but especially at the beach, girl’s nights, and getaways with her lifelong besties, attending church, baking for others, and shopping. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. To know Mary Lee was to love her.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter Claire Ann Jones.

She was born in Heidelberg, Germany on July 3, 1954 the daughter of Retired Major Robert Edward Taylor and Regina Robinson Taylor. She was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church and she owned and operated Finley Oil Company in Greenville. She loved reading, her friends at church, and especially her family. She was an avid UK basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rodney Finley, her mother Jean Robinson Taylor, and her grandson Camden Spires.
She is survived by her daughter Megan Finley (SSG Griffin Spires) of Hopkinsville and her father Retired Major Robert Edward Taylor of Greenville.

Born April 19, 1928 in Butler, PA the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Dufford. She was a former bookkeeper in St. Elmo, IL and elementary secretary and library aide in Ashland. She was a faithful member of the choir and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the Greenville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and husband, Betsy and Ron Brickner, her brother and wife, Robert and Maureen Dufford, her grandson-in-law Richard Bingham and her great grandson Leon Paul Searcy.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years Leon Gibbons, children Michael (Margaret) Gibbons, Mark (Cheryl) Gibbons, and Melinda (Eddie) Prunty, a brother William Dufford of Buckner, 7 grandchildren Shannon (Michael) Caswell, Holly Babb, Kaci Prunty, Amanda (Ashley) Ethington, Lindsay (Marc) Searcy, Meghan Bingham, and Hillary (Kyle) Martin, 19 great grandchildren Anna (Oz) Perez, Nathan Marion, Caleb West, Emelyn West, Sierra Ethington, Will Searcy, Brysen Stucker, Evie Searcy, Cam Martin, Annie Searcy, Aspen Ethington, Jude Martin, Louis Martin, Maxwell Bingham, Elizabeth Searcy, Nola Ethington, Gus Martin, Merryn Bingham, and Stella Martin, and 1 great-great-grandson Ezekiel Perez.

K.R. was a teacher and superintendent at Cleaton School. He was a friend of many families and was well known throughout the community for selling Life and Casualty insurance for over 39 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He was a loyal University of Kentucky Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lou Don Doss, son Johnnie Doss, grandson Matthew Lane Doss and great-granddaughter Claire Ann Jones.

GREENVILLE, KY., Wallace Acton Wood, 90, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Maple Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville. He was born in Glasgow on January 28, 1932 the son of Lewis Edward Wood and Vera Magdalene Clark Wood. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a Shriner. He was the oldest living member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #633 in Owensboro. He enjoyed bird hunting and fishing, and in his elder years, he loved sitting on the front or back porch in the swing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years Rosa Agnes Wood, his twin brother Follis Wood, brothers Kenneth Wood and Bill Wood, and sister Patricia Mathis.
Mr. Wood is survived by 5 children Vickie Snodgrass of Greenville, Terry Wood of Murray,
Karen (Chuck) Todd of Nicholasville, Linda (Terry) Galyen of Greenville, Amy (Sam) Southard of Beaver Dam, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great children.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 3:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY with Rev. Brent Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
