Robert Ray Newman, 87, entered his eternal place of rest Friday, May 26th, 2017. He was born May 25th, 1930, to the late William Arvel and Willie Carver Newman and spent his childhood years growing up in the Beech Creek Community and graduated from Hughes-Kirk High School in 1948. He met his best friend and love of his life, Joyce Dean Mercer, in 1950 and they were married on November 14th, 1953, spending sixty-two wonderful years together. OWENSBORO, KY., — Maxine Davis, 94, of Owensboro, passed away May 23, 2017 at 10:40pm at the Owensboro Health Center in Owensboro, KY. A native of Muhlenberg County, she was born on March 15, 1923 to Roscoe Davis and Maude Hill Davis. Maxine worked as a nurse's assistant at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital until her retirement and was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by nieces Beverly Jenkins, Janice Beck, and Imogene Paris, sisters Ival Mae Laster, Irene Rather, and Viva Deason, and brother Marvin Davis.
