WHITE PLAINS, KY., Burness Ray (Kingfish) Greenwood, 79, of White Plains passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County on September 22, 1940 graduated from Drakesboro High School, and was a member of Jernigan’s Chapel Methodist Church. He was a retired UMWA coal miner of 36 years. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, loved Jean, his wife of 38 years, loved watching Kentucky basketball, farming, and raising his garden. He loved his grandkids, his daughters, and having Saturday date nights with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Ruby Baggett Greenwood, 3 sisters Dalpha Grim, Margret White, and Susan Greenwood, and a daughter Vanessa Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Nora Jean Greenwood of White Plains, 3 daughters Taleah (Keith) Wright of Greenville, Lisa (Dan) White of Valparaiso, IN., Debra (Jeffery) Dukes of Beech Creek, 8 grandchildren Josh, Jared, Drew, Daniel, Elizabeth, Hannah, Dilyn, and Deenessa, a brother Bobby Greenwood of Greenville, several great-grandchildren, and nieces Donna Clark and Angie Vincent.
Funeral services will be private with Bro. Steve Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
