Charles Rich Summers, 95, of Louisville

SUMMERS-SR.--CHARLES-RICH

LOUISVILLE, KY., — Charles Rich Summers, 95, of Louisville passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Landmark of Iroquois Park in Louisville, KY.  He was born on June 23, 1924 in Muhlenberg County the son of Paul Wesley Summers and Mary Genevieve Driskill Summers. He began his teaching career in 1949 at Greenville High School, taught and coached at Sacramento and Calhoun, and taught at Fairdale High School in Louisville, KY when it opened, retiring there in 1978 as principal. He loved his time at Fairdale. He was a wonderful father and a good administrator.     

He was an Army veteran serving in World War II attaining the rank of Corporal and earning 2 Bronze stars as a Combat Infantryman. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years Betty Crisp Summers, a brother Robert Summers, 2 grandsons Brandon Summers and Justin Summers.

Graveside services will be conducted with military honors on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10am in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY with Rev. Tom Stovall will officiate. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by 2 sons Charles Rich (Karen) Summers, Jr. of Louisville, David (Shelia) Summers of Louisville, 4 grandchildren Jason Summers, Allison (Josh) Bramucci, Tiffany (Jim) Clark, Leah (Ryan) Lahaie, 9 great grandchildren Kalieb Spencer, Chloe Howard, Taylor Mathenia, Hannah Summers, Alivia Lahaie, Blaine Summers, Joshua Thomas Bramucci, Penelope Rose Bramucci, and Madison Jules Summers.
