William Paul Bethel, 98, of Greenville

BETHEL-PAULvet ffffffGREENVILLE, KY., — William Paul Bethel, 98, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Diversicare in Greenville, KY. He was born in Muhlenberg County on January 1, 1921 the son of William Raymon Bethel and Esther Ashlock Bethel. He owned Bethel Cleaners in Greenville and he was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244.

He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asian Pacific Conflict, having served in seven major battles, and receiving the Purple Heart and seven Bronze Stars.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Lois Fearn Bethel on April 3, 2018, his parents, 2 brothers Charles Bethel and Bob Bethel.

He is survived by a son William Keith (Peggy) Bethel of Greenville, daughter Guyla (Jeff) Heltsley of Greenville, 7 grandchildren Chris (Donna) Bethel, Robin Heltsley, Kelly (Marty) Hibbert, Kerry (Galen) Currington, Allison (Patrick) Cleeton, Samuel Bethel, Sarah Heltsley, 2 great-grandchildren Breanna Bethel and Bodhi Currington, special friend Denise Boggess.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 5pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville conducted by Rev. Steven Neel. Burial will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11am in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, IL.  Masonic Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 4:30pm at Gary’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 3pm until 5pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Greenville United Methodist Church choir.
