GREENVILLE, KY., — Dorothy Irene Kinney, 98, of Greenville heard heaven calling her home on Monday April 15, 2019 at her home. Irene was born on September 26, 1921 in Pleasanton, Kansas one of six children born to William Rees and Mamie Ralph Rees. She was married to Ralph Kinney on June 24, 1939. He was a superintendent of drilling for Peabody Coal and they moved 99 times in search of coal before settling in Greenville in 1958 where she lived until the present. Irene was a homemaker and she loved and cared for her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Ralph Kinney and her son Rees Kinney.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY with Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
She is survived by a son John (Barbara) Kinney of Greenville, daughter Kathy (Steve) Martin of Greenville, daughter-in-law Ragena Kinney of Greenville, 5 grandchildren Kelley (Steve) Kline, Corey Kinney, Willie Kinney, Christy (Marty) Jordan, Mandy (Wes) Newman, 10 great grandchildren Rees Kline, Patrick Kinney, Ashley Kinney, Branson (Amber) Jordan, Quintin Jordan, Keely Newman, Kelby Newman, Kamden Newman, Shaun Milam, Cheree Milam, and a great-great grandchild Bryden Rich Jordan.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 17 beginning at 10am until time of service at 1pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY.
