GREENVILLE, KY., — Texie Wells Laster, 99, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 7:05pm in the Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a short illness. She was born April 7, 1919 in Christian County the daughter of Ethal Wells and Vera McChesney Wells. She was a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church and was a cook for many years at Muhlenberg Community Hospital and Longest Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Owen Laster in 1994, 3 brothers Norman, Alley, Lonnie Wells, and her daughter Brenda Garrett in 2018.
She is survived by 2 daughters Doris Kelly of Greenville, Patsy Hopper of Greenville, 1 son Donous (Marsha) Laster of Shelbyville, IN., 9 grandchildren Michael (Janice) Hurt of Warner Robbins, GA., Bruce Laster of Madisonville, Theresa Garrett of Bowling Green, Danny Garrett of Greenville, Brian (Veronica) Garrett of Greenville, Donnie Laster of Shelbyville, IN., John (Karrie) Laster of Shelbyville, IN., Michelle (Jed) Mormance of Indianapolis, IN., Jeremy Laster of Shelbyville, IN., 16 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister Willodean Meriweather of Hopkinsville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 1pm at Carter Creek Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. John Butch Day officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY and after 12noon on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Carter Creek Baptist Church.
