Rev. Raymond Walton McDonald, 93, of Greenville

RAYMOND-WALTON-MCDONALDGREENVILLE, KY., — Rev.  Raymond Walton McDonald, 93, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday evening July 31 at 5:05pm in the Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.  He was born on November 26, 1924 the son of John Walter McDonald and Lizzie Tooley McDonald. He worked as an electrician for W.G. Duncan and Peabody Coal Companies before working with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources. Rev. McDonald served as pastor of several Baptist churches in Muhlenberg, Hopkins, Todd, and Ohio counties. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1944 and Western Kentucky University in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Hazel Mae Bethel McDonald, siblings Bernie McDonald, Ina McDonald, Roy McDonald and half-brothers Emerson McDonald and Irvin McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3 at 2pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Heltsley Cemetery in Clifty, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Velma Pauline Chandler McDonald of Greenville, sons   David (Linda) McDonald of Mt. Washington, KY Aaron (Nancy) McDonald of Simpsonville, SC James McDonald of Bowling Green, Jonathan (Lori) McDonald of Henderson, 5 grandchildren, Eric McDonald, Troy McDonald, Victoria Cottle, Nathan McDonald, Rachel McDonald, 5  great grandchildren Nora McDonald, Dash McDonald, Charlie McDonald, Katherine Alexander, Dustin McDonald, and 1 great-great grandchild  Oliver Alexander.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 2 from 5pm until 8pm and on Friday August 3 from 12noon until time of the funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY.
