Douglas Earl Thompson, 50, of Greenville

Douglas-Earl-ThompsonGREENVILLE, KY., — Douglas Earl Thompson, 50, passed peacefully in his home on March 25, 2018 in Greenville. Mr. Thompson was born on May 17, 1967 in Columbus, Georgia to his parents Winfred Lee Thompson and Wanda Faye Meredith Thompson.  He graduated from Greenville High School in 1985 going on to play football at the University of Kentucky until 1987.  He then went on to graduate from Western Kentucky University in 1992.  He obtained his Master’s Degree from Georgetown College in 2001. Doug spent many years in education as a teacher and athletic coach in Frankfort and Louisville.  Teaching led him to pursue his love of computers, where he became a district technology coordinator in the public school system.  During that time Mr. Thompson and his children lived in Shelbyville, Kentucky.  Before moving back home to Muhlenberg County, Doug worked as a network coordinator at other various businesses in Kentucky.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughter Courtney Thompson, his son Jonathan Thompson, his Mother Wanda Faye Meredith Thompson, 3 brothers Rodney, John, and Rick, and his partner Marlo Allen. 

He is preceded in death by his father Winfred Thompson, his grandparents Charles ‘Buster’ and Melvina Thompson, his grandparents Earl Meredith and Flossie Meredith Dowler, and his cousin Joey Wayne Thompson.

Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm CST as well as before the funeral service at 12noon CST at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY. 

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 28 at 2pm CST at Gary’s Funeral Home.
