Barbara Watkins Mercer (Bobbie), 86, of Greenville

deskGREENVILLE, KY., — Barbara Watkins Mercer (Bobbie), 86, of Greenville passed away suddenly, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Barbara was born March 23, 1931, the youngest child of the late Jessie and Christine Watkins, in Greenville. Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Graham High School. Barbara retired from the Muhlenberg County Courthouse as secretary of the Muhlenberg County Civil Defense Office. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 75 years where she attended church faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was a faithful prayer warrior with members of her Sunday school class. She enjoyed reading and doing cross-stitch and crewel, until her eyesight failed her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby David Mercer, in 1991, 2 brothers Denzil Watkins and Bill Watkins, and a sister Dorlas Matheny.

Mrs.  Mercer is survived by 3 daughters Debbie (Johnny) Wilson of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, Pamela (Jim) Achuff of Old Hickory, Tennessee, and Marcia (Robert) Reynolds of Greenville, Kentucky, a son David Mercer of Nashville, Tennessee, a granddaughter Jennifer Crockett of Bowling Green, Kentucky, 2 grandsons Brian (Toni) Reynolds of Greenville, Kentucky and Tyler Reynolds of Louisville, Kentucky, 3 great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.

Services are 1pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Greenville with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4pm to 8pm Friday at the Church and from 10am until the funeral hour at the Church.
