Shannon Ruth Corley 41, of Alexandria, VA

image1ALEXANDRIA, VA., — Shannon Ruth Corley 41, of Alexandria formerly of Greenville, Kentucky went to be with her father and heavenly father on December 22, 2017 after complications from a severe stroke suffered on August 7, 2017. Shannon Ruth Corley daughter of Charles ‘Pud’ and Anna Corley was born on May 19, 1976 in Greenville.  She attended Longest Elementary School and graduated from Muhlenberg South High School in 1994 where she played basketball and participated in many student activities. Shannon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the University of Kentucky in 1998 where she was active in Alpha Xi Delta sorority, held the position of Panhellenic Rush Chair, and was a leader in many student organizations. After graduation Shannon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to work for Alpha Xi Delta initially as an Educational Leadership Consultant and was subsequently hired on staff as the Volunteer and Special Projects Manager. In 2003, she moved to Alexandria, Virginia and began working for USA Today in Sports Marketing. In 2006 while working full time Shannon earned her MBA from George Washington University. After graduation she began working for Bearing Point Consulting which became Deloitte Consulting.  Shannon was a National Leader for the Human Capital Analyst Development Program and held the position of Senior Manager with Deloitte. Shannon served on the University of Kentucky Alumni Association Board of Directors, was a former president of the Nation's Capital Region chapter of the Kentucky Alumni Association, a member of the Junior League of Washington, and an Alpha Xi Delta volunteer. She took up running in her 30’s, threw great parties, enjoyed cooking and traveling, and loved her dog Muggles, spending time with family on Corley Farm and everything Kentucky, especially University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball.

She is survived by her mother Anna Corley of Greenville, her sister Shiela Corley of Alexandria, her long-term boyfriend Brad Osborne of Blacksburg, Virginia, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many friends.

Shannon was preceded in death by her father Charles ‘Pud’ Corley and her grandparents Jack and Verda Corley and Raymond and Ruth Williams.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28 from 10am to 2pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, Kentucky. 

The funeral will be held at 2pm with burial immediately following. 

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Shannon Corley Scholarship Fund to send a Muhlenberg County student to the University of Kentucky.
