Delbert L. (Dusty) Gwaltney Sr.

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Delbert L. (Dusty) Gwaltney Sr., 81, of Greenville died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, after several months of illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Mill Shoals, Ill.

Mr. Gwaltney was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville. Dusty served in the Navy for 21 years as a Seabee in MCB10 and as a pastor in Baptist churches in Illinois and Missouri for 25-plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary D. Gwaltney of Greenville; three sons, Dusty J. (Barbara) Gwaltney Jr. of San Diego, Michael (Roni) Gwaltney of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert (Joy) Gwaltney of Greenville; four grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud, Shawn Michael Gwaltney, Gina Marie Gwaltney, Clark Robert Gwaltney and Robin (Ladnier) Gwaltney; and six great-grandchildren, Dusty James, Riley, Austin, Abigail, Zackery and Alexander.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday, May 7 at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, by Dr. Charles W. Midkiff, with burial to follow with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6 and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
