Hopkinsville, KY., Jean Carolyn Noffsinger Brown, 91, of Hopkinsville passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Bradford Heights Health and Rehab Center of natural causes. A native of Muhlenberg County, she was born Oct. 17, 1928 in the New Cypress community the daughter of the late Joseph and Opal Noffsinger.
A 1946 graduate of Greenville High School, she was a member of the Girls of GHS. She was also a member of Second Baptist Church, Hopkinsville. Brown was an accomplished businesswoman and an excellent home cook. She was a fan of University of Kentucky basketball, loved Florida beaches and made friends wherever she went. She was most proud of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Dawson Brown Jr. They had been in the pharmacy business in Hartford and Greenville and they were the developers of Browns Mill Apartments in Greenville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters June Tafel and JoAnne Gabbard and by an infant brother John Young Noffsinger.
Survivors include her daughter Amy Brown Latham of Hopkinsville, her son Harry D. Brown III of Cadiz, and her son and daughter-in-law John Wesley and Jennifer Brown of Hopkinsville.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Nick Brown of Central City, Renee Kinder of Lexington, Lindsay Ward of Sacramento, Christopher Brown of Denton, Texas, and Travis Brown of Hopkinsville, and by her great-grandchildren Lawson, Kathryn, Joseph, Isaac and Emmaline Grace Kinder of Lexington, and Grady Ward of Sacramento.
A public memorial service will be at 10am Friday, June 19, 2020 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West at the Committal Shelter. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
