Clara ‘Claire’ Ramona Webb Dukes, 52, of Greenville

Clara-Claire-Ramona-Webb-DukesGREENVILLE, KY., — Clara ‘Claire’ Ramona Webb Dukes passed away February 9, 2018.  Ramona was born on August 11, 1965 in Fort Knox, KY, to 2nd Lieutenant Wesdie Lee Webb and Jeanette Phelps Webb. She was a 1983 graduate of Greenville High School and a 1988 graduate of Western Kentucky University, later earning a Master’s Degree. Mrs. Dukes (AKA ‘Miss Webb’ and ‘Mrs. Adams’) was a teacher who started her career teaching Spanish at Evansville Reitz Memorial High School, then spent over 20 years working for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education, teaching drama, Spanish, and French at Muhlenberg North and South Middle Schools and Muhlenberg County High School East Campus.  She was a cheerleading sponsor for the middle schools for several years. In addition to teaching, Clara was also a long-time member of Greenville First Baptist Church and Madeline Chapter #64, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was currently serving as Worthy Matron. She was a fantastic cook who also enjoyed acting, movies, ballet, science fiction and Renaissance conventions, crafts (especially counted cross stitch), and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great zeal for life and did not know a stranger. Clara truly was ‘a beautiful princess who can’t be copied’ (said in her childhood).

Clara was preceded in death by her grandparents James and Clara Webb and Sam and Bonnie Phelps, uncles Wayne Webb and Tom Adams, her father-in-law Norman ‘Chig’ Dukes, and her beloved dog/companion Peanut.

Clara is survived by her husband Kevin Dukes, her parents Wesdie and Jeanette Webb, 2 sisters Rowena VanMeter and Eve Brooks, her mother-in-law Helen Dukes, a brother-in-law Mel Dukes, 2 nieces Terri Dukes and Alexandra ‘Lexie’ Brooks, a nephew Andrew Brooks, 3 step-sons Derrick Dukes, Josh Dukes, and Daniel Dukes, 4 aunts Norma Adams, Carol Webb, Janice West, and Diane West, an uncle Jerry Webb, cousins Connor James Webb, Bryan Franklin, Jarrett Franklin, Jamie Sanchez, Jason Sanchez, Josh West, Greg West, Samuel Adams, Ashley West McGinnis, Amanda Webb, and Jeremy Webb, 2 honorary cousins, David Adams and Smith Adams, an honorary daughter Amy Tyson, honorary sisters Amy Bivins, Kelly Withrow Maeser, Kirsten Moore Surgi, Kim Hewitt Swepton, and Carmen McCay, several relatives by marriage, and many special friends and former students.

Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at Greenville First Baptist Church with Eastern Star Funeral Rights at 6pm. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Febuary 13, 2018 at 2pm at Greenville First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Galyen, assisted by Rev. Tom Stovall, with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY. 

The family requests that all visitors willing please wear purple in honor of Clara, as this was her favorite color.
