Danny Joe (DJ) Putnam, 69, of Greenville

PutnamGREENVILLE, KY., — Danny Joe (DJ) Putnam, 69, of Greenville, KY passed away at his home on April 16, 2017 after a lengthy illness surrounded by family. Born January 22, 1948 to Buddy and Earlene Putnam, he was the oldest of seven children. He graduated from Hughes-Kirk High School in 1968. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged due to a childhood injury to his hand. He began driving a semi-truck at the age of 18. When he retired, he had driven over a million miles. He married his true love on June 27, 1968 and they had two daughters. In 2009 he took to his hobby and love of antiques and opened Putnam’s Pickins.  People all over the region knew him and his love of “pickin’”. He was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Buddy and Earlene Putnam, a brother Jeff Putnam, a grandson Stephen Hayden Bruder, and a granddaughter Addie G. Woosley.

 Survivors are his wife Ann Putnam; daughters Sarah (Steve) Bruder of Powderly, KY, Tara (Nathan) Woosley of Winter Garden FL, and Karla (John) Whitmer of Weir, KY; grandchildren Holden (Courtney) Putnam, Skyler (Ken) Steele, Haylee Bruder; great grandchildren Enslie and Kolten; brothers Dale (Tish) Putnam of Tell City, IN, Tim (Diane) Putnam of Evansville, IN, and Mike Putnam of Ebenezer, KY; sisters Diane (Mike) Hildebrant of Murray, KY and Darlene (David) Stanley of Greenville, KY; an aunt Pauline Payne of Owensboro; two uncles David (Carolyn) Travis of Hollie, TX and Johnny (Chun-Cha) Travis of Hopkinsville, KY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Funeral services and Masonic Services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2pm at Gary’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22 at Gary’s Funeral Home from 10am until time of service.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charity in memory of Addie Woosley.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
