Donald Lynn Cox, 67, of Dunmor

Mr. DonDUNMOR, Ky., — Donald Lynn Cox, 67, recently passed away in his home at Lake Malone near Dunmor, KY.  Don was born on March 7, 1950 in Kingsport, TN son of Gordon E. (Bill) Cox and Clara Ruth Frazier Cox who precede him in death. His brother Buford E. (Butch) Cox and nephew Jason Cox also precede him in death.

He had a fun-loving childhood with Butch and his extended family. After attending Dobyns Bennett High School, in 1968, Don enlisted in the Air Force and served four years. He studied electronics while in the service and later completed an electrical apprenticeship, ultimately becoming a Master Electrician. He was serious about his work, but always had fun on the job, playing pranks and joking with friends. He loved to tinker, often making his own version of things he saw on television or the internet. Don loved to take things apart to see how they worked, but usually did not care about putting them back together.

He and his wife, Jean, married in 1982 in Jackson, TN. Over the years they enjoyed motorcycling, boating, playing music, golfing, and spending time with their many friends and family members, who will remember Don for his great wit and sense of humor, and as the fun guy that he was.

Don leaves behind his wife Jean Pounds Cox, son David L. Thurmond, Jr, and wife Maria; grandson Jared Thurmond; brother in law Charles O. Pounds and wife Melonie; sister in law Barbara Cox Chick; nieces Tessa Cox Malone and husband Joe; Lisa Pounds Byrnes and husband William; and nephew Jeff Pounds. He also leaves behind four great nephews, four great nieces; and many cousins and close friends, too many to name.

No services will be held; he will be cremated as he requested. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (
