Thomas Lawrence Atkins, 40, of Greenville, KY, died at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station Nov.30th, 2014. He was born March 24, 1974 in Greenville, KY and graduated from Muhlenberg South High School May 28th, 1992. He married Hazel Igraine Bliss on Oct. 13, 2000 in Oregon, OH. Some achievements obtained were an Associate of Science degree from Murray State University, then his Journeyman Electrician’s license through the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Apprenticeship program. He later continued to achieve his Master Electrician’s license and was employed as a controls electrician for P.A.E. (Pacific Architects and Engineers). He was very interested in his Scottish heritage, and was a lifetime member of the Clan Wallace Society.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Hazel Igraine Bliss Atkins; son Gideon Liam Wallace Atkins; daughter Courtney Dawnyelle Atkins; stepson Benjamin Christian Stein and wife Kelsey O’Brien, and granddaughter Emelyn Alyse Stein; Parents James Earnest Atkins Jr. and Paula Susan Wallace Atkins; brother Andrew Ford Atkins; Aunts Coni Theios Wallace and Jennifer Atkins Kassner.
He was preceded in death by grandparents James Earnest Atkins and Ruth Anne Ford Atkins, Paul Harrison Wallace and Ione Peveler Wallace; Uncles James Harrison Wallace and Joseph Richard Wallace, and his sister Sarah Vick Atkins.
Visitation will be at Gary’s Funeral Home at 405 Hopkinsville Street, Greenville, KY on Dec. 20, 2014 from 12 noon – 2pm. A private service will be held at a later time.
